Netanyahu rejects any “truce” in Gaza without the release of hostages
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has made it clear that he will not accept any temporary ceasefire to pause the offensive on the Gaza Strip if the release of the more than 240 hostages held by Palestinian militiamen is not guaranteed, in a message with which he has called to continue working until achieving a “clear” victory that, he hopes, “will resonate for generations.”
“We will not stop until victory,” Netanyahu has warned, meaning “destroy” Hamas, “restore the security” of Israel and release all those held in Gaza. In this sense, he has once again praised the work of the Defense Forces and their role in an offensive that also includes ground operations on the coastal territory.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s message coincided with another public speech by the leader of the Hezbollah party-militia, Hasan Nasrallah, who had not yet spoken since the start of the current escalation of violence, and Netanyahu has asked “the enemies of the north” that they do not make “mistakes.” “You can’t imagine how much it would cost you,” he said.
