Judgments|The 20-year-old criminals received long prison sentences after emptying a friend’s apartment and finally robbing her.
In their twenties the men emptied their acquaintance’s apartment while he was in pretrial detention. When the victim got home after a few weeks, the men returned to the apartment.
The crimes are scheduled for February 2023.
The two entered their friend’s apartment without permission several times. According to the victim, they took almost all “saleable property” from the apartment.
The men’s trip included branded clothes, electronics, a vacuum cleaner, a passport, hygiene items and a protective vest. In addition, the men destroyed the victim’s furniture and appliances.
When the victim got home, the men came for another visit. They ordered the victim to sit on the sofa, hit and kicked him and cut him with a knife.
They demand the victim to pay a made-up debt of 15,000 euros. They also forced the victim to call his mother and ask her for money, threatening to do violence to the victim’s mother as well.
The victim was threatened with various kinds of violence, such as gouging out his eyes.
Even more property was taken from the victim during this visit. Another of the men also tried to use the man’s identity card to withdraw a flexible loan. He managed to cheat himself of a mobile phone with an instalment.
Gentlemen said that they had picked up goods for sale from the victim’s apartment, so that money could be delivered to the victim for remand. They basically denied the robbery.
The court did not believe the men in whose possession the victim’s property had been found.
The District Court of Helsinki sentenced the person born in 1998 by Oliver Roy Oscar Holmberg to three years and one month in prison for theft, aggravated robbery and firearms offence.
Born in 2000 Elias Mikael Hällfors was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for theft, aggravated robbery, three counts of fraud, identity theft and unauthorized use.
The prison sentences of both also included previous sentences ordered to be executed. Both had a long criminal history behind them.
The men were ordered to pay the victim compensation for suffering and compensation for the stolen property.
Senior of the men appealed their sentence to the Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal overturned the theft attributed to one man and changed the grounds for the accusation of aggravated robbery, but it did not affect the length of the sentence.
