Japanese SLIM module survives third lunar night
The Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) module located on the surface of the Earth’s natural satellite survived its third lunar night. About it reports Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
Communication with the module was established on the evening of April 23, when SLIM transmitted another image of the lunar surface. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency reminds that the module is not designed to operate under lunar night conditions.
At the end of March, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency announced that SLIM had been put into hibernation mode until the end of April.
At the end of March, SLIM got in touch after almost a month of silence.
On February 25, the Japanese side managed to establish contact with SLIM, which woke up after a moonlit night. SLIM was first put into sleep mode at the end of January.
On January 19, SLIM made a sideways soft landing on the lunar surface, which caused power problems.
