India plans to intensify washing facilities for raw coke, one of the main inputs to the steel industry, to reduce its dependence on imports of goods.
India’s annual production capacity is 23 million tons. Ten blocks of coke, with a peak capacity of 22.5 million tons, have already been auctioned off to the private sector in the past two years, with most production expected to start in 2025.
These plans are part of India’s goal to triple coke production by 2030 to keep pace with rising demand.
