No certificate for those who only undergo the swab: the idea is part of a package of recommendations presented by the experts. A boom in infections in the Netherlands, almost 19,200 in 24 hours
BRUSSELS. Restrict the issue of the Green pass only to people who have been vaccinated or recovered recently, denying the certificate to those who only undergo the test. The idea is part of the package of recommendations presented by Gems, the Belgian group of experts in charge of providing medical and scientific advice to the Brussels Government. This last Wednesday will establish new measures to curb the worrying increase in infections. In view of the executive’s choices, the ‘Belgian CTS’ has drawn up a document of recommendations, which the newspaper Le Soir has come into possession of. According to experts, the Covid safe ticket, that is the Belgian name of the Green pass, should first of all be renamed as Covid pass because the original name “creates a false sense of security”, reports Le Soir, citing the document.
The new Covid pass should also be issued only to people who have been fully vaccinated or recovered in the last six months, thus leaving out those who have not yet undergone the vaccination despite having received several appeals from the health authorities. The possible restriction of the certificate was soon picked up by several newspapers as the “Berlin solution”, alluding to the rules in force in the German capital since the end of August and which provide for a ‘reinforced’ Green pass for those who want to go to the disco or nightclubs . The representatives of the Brussels nightlife have made it known that they support this proposal as an alternative to the feared temporary closure of ballroom and nightclub activities until the infections come back under control. A perspective, the latter, recommended by Belgian experts, but strongly opposed by the Brussels by night federation, the trade association of Brussels nightclubs.
