Hockey|HIFK announced the names of the new managing director and sports director.
Ice hockey HIFK, which plays in the SM league, has received new people on its management ladder. The CEO of Uusi Oy HIFK-Hockey ab is Alexander Sneen and the club’s new sports director is Janne Pesonen.
In addition, HIFK is establishing an expert group to develop the competitiveness of its sports strategy. They belong to the group Jarmo Kekäläinen, Mikael Granlund, Henrik Dettmannand as the chairman of the group Mika Kortelainen.
HIFK chose him as a youth development coach Kari Kalton.
HIFK announced the selections on Thursday.
Norwegian Sneen, 50, joins HIFK from the position of Sinebrychoff’s marketing director. Before this, he has worked as Brown-Forman’s global strategy director in the Netherlands and was responsible for the international marketing of Finlandia Vodka and Jack Daniels, among others.
Pesonen is a former ice hockey player who is best remembered for the 2011 World Cup gold winning team, Leijon. Pesonen also played one season, 2011–2012, in HIFK. After his playing career, Pesonen has been, among other things, the team manager of the under-20 national team and studied sports management at Vierumäki.
HIFK’s predecessor managing director Markus Lindström resigned last Tuesday. According to HIFK, the employment contract was terminated by mutual agreement.
HIFK’s previous sports director Tobias Salmelainen resigned last April.
