MotoGP Catalonia, the news of the tests
The day after announcing his retirement, Aleix Espargaro leads the time rankings of the Montmeló Trials. The Spaniard laps in 1:38.562, a new track record, and precedes Brad Binder by 72 thousandths.
Ducati remains outside the top-3, considering the third place of Pedro Acosta, who precedes Francesco Bagnaia by 30 thousandths. Jack Miller in the top-5 (seven thousandths behind his former teammate), Jorge Martin, Franco Morbidelli, Enea Bastianini, Alex Rins and Maverick also advance to Q2 Viñales.
However, Marc remains excluded from direct access to Q2 Marquez, who fails to improve in the final: for the eight-time world champion it will be the second consecutive Q1, the objective will be to not force himself into a double comeback as happened in Le Mans. It won’t be easy, as the competition will be fierce (there will be all the Ducati GP23s as well as Miguel Oliveira and Fabio Quartararo). After the positive signs this morning, he is back in the Honda dust, which occupies the last positions in the standings.
