Back on track
For the first time since the 6 Hours of Monza, held in the first half of June, the WEC is finally back in the spotlight this weekend with the penultimate date of the championship, valid for the 6 Hours of Fuji. As well as in the Temple of Speed the Ferraris were expected by the faithful public Redthe same phenomenon will occur on the upcoming weekend for Japanese fans, ready to support the Toyota in the direct challenge against the little horse for both the constructors’ and drivers’ championships.
The World Cup and the news
At present, the Japanese house is in the lead Hypercar manufacturers standings with an advantage of 27 points over Ferrari 499P, this year’s winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In the drivers’ category the situation is even more delicate with Toyota #8 Buemi-Hartley-Hirakawa in the role of leader but with a gap of suns 23 points by teammates Conway-Kobayashi-Lopezall at the wheel of the GR010 Hybrid #7, and by AF Corse’s Ferrari Calado-Giovinazzi-Pier Guidi. A weekend which, again as regards the Hypercar, will not see the participation of the Glickenhaus teamas well as that of Nico Müller in Peugeot, with the Swiss driver struggling with an injury to his left collarbone. However, the French company has already made it official in recent days Stoffel Vandoorne as his replacement. The LMP2 and LMGTE AM championships are also very exciting, with the Japanese race which could reserve important changes in the respective classifications before the final round of the 8 Hours of Bahrain, scheduled for early November.
TV schedules
For Italian and European enthusiasts, the 6 Hours of Fuji will force them to face up early at night due to the effect of the time zone with Japan, especially as regards the race on Sunday 10 September. Free practice on Friday, as usual, will not be broadcast live on TV (only live timing will be available on the official competition website), on the contrary on Saturday and Sunday.
