Finland the most internationally known film director Aki Kaurismäki has sent an open letter to the Elokapina movement promising to participate in paying fines caused by possible demonstrations.
According to Kaurismäki, all means other than violence are allowed in a fight.
“It is completely clear that the running boys and girls who ‘lead’ our country do not understand evolution even to the extent that the trees will leave behind us. Humans are the only real alien species on our planet,” the director writes.
In his letter Kaurismäki mentions that he participates in paying the fines even under the threat that he will be charged with public incitement to commit a crime.
According to Elokapinna, the current jurisprudence is unclear. For example, according to the judgment of the Helsinki district court this spring, the public promise of the Elokapina supporter to participate in paying the fines was not against the law.
Kaurismäki the statement is a show of support for Elokapina’s Storm Warning campaign starting next week, within the framework of which demonstrations will be held in Helsinki in June.
Movement demands the Finnish government to cut all subsidies harmful to the environment and to comply with the Climate Act.
On Thursday, HS did not manage to reach Kaurismäki to comment on his show of support.
