It was on December 13, 2022, when in a meeting with the media, the DHL Express CEOAntonio Arranz, pointed out that the AIFA would play an important role in the company’s plans to increase its capacity in the countryadding that this year two investment projects will be announced that will have an impact over the next 20 years.
One of these projects is the one that involves a operation in the AIFA in conjunction with a partner, JC JFK Charge; However, up to that time the German company was not among the companies that took over the concessions for the controlled enclosures of the new airportwhere names like that of Free Market and TMM Group.
It should be noted that this information is disclosed only a few days after the decree that seeks to close the cargo operations at the AICM to relieve the airspace of the complex; however, the cargoes only concentrated around 3 percent of the operations that were carried out in 2022.
The decree has not been well received by airline cargo units such as Air France, Avianca and Air Canada. Even the Mexican Estafeta estimates that the exit would cost more than 100 million pesos and it would take 16 months, when the federal government only seeks to give a 90-day deadline.
