A recent leak suggests that CD Projekt Red may have been working on an expansion of Cyberpunk 2077later cancelled, set on the moon.
Originally released in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 experienced a launch objectively disastrous. The game was plagued by several bugs and lacked many of the features promised to fans in the marketing phase. Due to these numerous problems, the title was even removed from the PlayStation Store for a period.
However, in the time that has passed since then, the CD Projekt Red development team has constantly updated the work through several patches, as well as an update dedicated to the version of Cyberpunk 2077 for current generation consoles.
The title only got one DLC, despite there being a strong demand for additional single-player content from fans. However, it cannot be ruled out that CD Projekt Red has worked on other DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 and, in this sense, a recent leak could give fans an idea of what the studio had in mind to expand the title.
An anonymous user on 4chan has released a handful of images that presumably depict some concept art for an unreleased Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, which ait would have had the moon as its setting.
According to the leaker, in CD Projekt Red’s initial intentions there was a desire to making colonies on the Moon places that players could visit in the base game. However, this content was cut, given that it would have required a huge amount of work for a title whose development had already been going on for several years.

After putting this idea aside, the intention was to use that content for a DLC, which was however canceled in favor of Phantom Libertyexpansion released at the end of 2023.
While the Moon would be an interesting new location to explore in Cyberpunk, the chances of CD Projekt Red using this concept in DLC are close to zeroas the studio has repeatedly insisted that Cyberpunk 2077 it would only have one expansionor the aforementioned Phantom Liberty.
Furthermore, the team confirmed in May 2024 that the development of the title in question had finally ended after more than three years of updates and that it will now focus on other projects such as The Witcher 4.
While this alleged expansion may never see the light of day, it’s still possible that CD Projekt Red could make the Moon an explorable location in the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Project Orion.
