Congress of Peru rejects proposal to impeach President Dina Boluarte

The motion proposed that Boluarte be dismissed for a “permanent moral incapacity.”

The plenary session of the Peruvian Congress rejected this Tuesday to accept for debate a motion to impeach President Dina Boluarte, which was presented by left-wing legislators for the dozens of deaths in the repression of anti-government protests which started last December.

The proposal received 37 votes in favor, 64 against and 10 abstentions.reason why the president of the Congress, José Williams, announced that “it goes to the file”.

The motion, which was supported by legislator Hamlet Echevarría, from the leftist bench of Cambio Democrático-Juntos por el Perú, proposed that Boluarte be dismissed for a “permanent moral incapacity” to continue in office.
