In Jerez for redemption
Victory in Qatar, crash in Portimao, fifth place in the United States: after a brilliant start Francesco Bagnaia was no longer able to stay in the fight for the podium in the last two races unlike Enea Bastianini, who has never won, but who is was ahead of the two-time world champion in the Algarve and Texas and now occupies second place in the drivers' standings behind Jorge Martinhare of this beginning of 2024. The official Ducati riders thus presented the Spanish GP scheduled for the weekend, a race won by Bagnaia in the last two editions.
“In the last two Grands Prix we have been forced to remain mostly on the defensive – the words of Francesco Bagnaia – Jerez is a different track than the ones we have raced at so far, so it will be essential to work well in each session to understand the behavior of the GP24 on this track. In the last two years we have managed to achieve two beautiful victories here in Spain and I hope to be able to fight for the top positions again this weekend. It won't be easy and there will be many fast riders, but we are determined and ready to give our best“.
“I'm happy to be racing again at Jerez, a very beautiful track and also very fun – he said Enea Bastianini – last year I tried to come back here after my shoulder injury, but I wasn't ready and I had to withdraw before the two races. This year we arrive in Spain strong with two podiums and, even if it is a very different track compared to Austin, I believe there are all the conditions to be able to have another good weekend. At this moment I have found the feeling with the bike again and we are working well. I just need to be a little more consistent in the initial stages of the race and also be able to be more incisive in the Sprint. After the GP we will have a day of testing here in Jerez which will be very important to be able to fix all those aspects that we don't have time to deal with during the race weekend
