At least 516 Ukrainian civilians, including 37 children, died in Ukraine war, says UN

At least 516 civilians, including 37 children, have been killed since the start of the war in Ukraine, the United Nations Human Rights Office said on Wednesday. Another 908 people were injured.

The agency led by High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet said it continued to check reports of casualties, and that hundreds of civilians may have been killed in the Ukrainian cities of Volnovaja, Mariupol and Izium. Most of the casualties were caused by explosive weapons attacks, including heavy artillery shelling and multiple rocket launch systems, the office said in a statement.

Of the deaths, 111 were confirmed in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, while the other 405 were reported in other areas of the country controlled by the Ukrainian government, including the capital Kiev and the cities of Odessa, Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and Mikolaiv. .
