Mexico.- The PAN senator, Lilly Téllez accused President AMLO of “rewarding” the former governor of Sonora, Claudia Pavlovichwith a consulate in Barcelona, despite the fact that he “covered up” the owners of the ABC Nursery.
“Although the former governor of Sonora, Claudia Pavlovich, protected and covered up the owners of #ABC Nursery, President AMLO rewards her with a consulate“Declared Lilly Téllez from her official Twitter account on February 23, 2022.
In her publication, the PAN member shared the letter that activists and relatives of the 49 children who died in the ABC Nursery fire sent to the Senate of the Republicspeaking out against the appointment of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to Claudia Pavlovich as consul in BarcelonaSpain.

“The Collective #KindergartenABC wants the Senate to listen to them because they are against that appointment“added the senator from Sonora.
In the letter sent to the Senate, the group denounced that the former governor of Sonora played a key role in covering up two of the owners of the ABC Nursery, which caught fire on June 5, 2009, causing the death of 49 children.
“As is known, Mrs. CLAUDIA ARTEMIZA PAVLOVICH ARELLANO: current proposed candidate to occupy the consulate of Mexico in Barcelona, played a leading role as a cover-up for Sandra Téllez Nieves and Gildardo Urquides Serranotwo of the owners of that deadly trap badly ‘enabled’ in a children’s stay”, they accused.
They stated that on August 12, 2009, while she was a local legislator in Sonora, Pavlovich “drafted and signed” letters of recommendation in favor of the owners of the nursery in order to “unduly interfere with the process“, which led to the reclassification of the crime of which they were accused.
In 2015, Claudia Pavlovich became Governor of Sonora, and in 2016, already in office, “reserved information related to the fire until 2026“, reads the letter, where they also accused her of sheltering to “avoid attending families of dead, injured and surviving children who demanded to meet with her.”
“Serious and reliable accusations of misuse of public resources weigh on his management,” they stressed.
The relatives of the victims of the ABC Nursery reproached that instead of being “rewarded” with a position at the consulate, Pavlovich should face justice.
“Far from being rewarded with an undeserving diplomatic post, PAVLOVICH should be facing justice right now for the serious charges against him,” said the group.
On behalf of the families of Hermosillo, Sonora, the protesters asked the Senate of the Republic to receive the group of relatives of the deceased and surviving children, so that “their reasons against this disgraceful appointment may be heard.”
On January 17, President López Obrador appointed the former governor of Sonora as Mexican consul in Barcelona, one of the various former governors of the PRI and the PAN invited to join the 4T.
