A German court spokeswoman said on Friday that the court had sentenced a member of the ISIS terrorist organization to five and a half years in prison.
The 43-year-old man joined the extremist organization in Syria in 2013. After arriving in Germany, he continued his support for the organization, providing it with money until he was arrested in 2021.
The prosecution in the city of Dusseldorf in the west of the country demanded a prison sentence of six and a half years against him, while the defense demanded that he be imprisoned for two and a half years.
It turned out that this person joined combat operations as a terrorist in ISIS from 2013 to 2015.
He also trained fighters and participated in negotiations regarding the exchange of captured ISIS extremist fighters, according to what the court said.
He left Syria in June 2015 after increasing pressure on the terrorist organization ISIS.
After entering Germany in August 2015, he collected about 9,000 euros (9,570 US dollars) in donations in 2020 to support women members of the extremist group ISIS in smuggling them out of Al-Hawl refugee camp.
