A 12-year-old girl died this Thursday afternoon after suffering a heart attack after a man entered her school in the town of Souffelweyersheim, near Strasbourg, and attacked two students aged 7 and 11 with a knife.
The minor had the heart attack after the center's students were confined in a classroom to guarantee their safety, according to the French newspaper 'Le Parisien' reported this Friday. The teachers gave her first aid and she was later rushed to the Strasbourg University Hospital. Once at the health center, the health workers could not do anything to save the little girl's life.
The companions attacked by the aggressor were slightly injured with superficial injuries. The 11-year-old girl was stabbed in front of the school and the 7-year-old girl was stabbed in a nearby square, in both cases for no apparent reason.
The attacker, a 30-year-old Frenchman, was arrested shortly after by the Police. The authorities are not aware that he has a criminal record, but an investigation has been opened to find out the motive, although a terrorist motive has been ruled out.
The prefecture of Bas-Rhin, the territory to which Souffelweyersheim belongs, has announced through of all his mental faculties.
The French Government raised the terrorist alert level last March after the attack on a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow in which 130 people died. They adopted the decision before Easter, seeking to reduce the risks of attacks less than a hundred days before the Paris Olympic Games.
