From January 2025, the minimum wage in Russia will increase by more than 16.5 percent. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin promised to increase salaries.
22 440
rubles
will reach the minimum wage in 2025
This will help raise the wages of about four million workers. The Russian prime minister also announced an increase in the minimum wage by 2030.
It is necessary to ensure accelerated growth of the minimum wage; by 2030 it should reach 35 thousand rubles
It was also reported that Mishustin ordered to include the increase in the minimum wage in the national project “Personnel”. Russians told about the consequences of a sharp increase in the minimum wage
In August, Russia proposed increasing the minimum wage to 30 thousand rubles. The corresponding bill will be submitted to the State Duma by deputies from the LDPR faction. The initiative implies an increase in the minimum wage by 10,758 rubles from January 1, 2025. For comparison, the minimum wage currently amounts to 19,242 rubles per month. Thus, the LDPR wants to raise the bar by 56 percent from next year.
A sharp increase in the minimum wage in Russia to 30 thousand rubles and above will lead to an increase in the rate of growth of consumer prices. This was stated by candidate of economic sciences Meri Valishvili.
According to the analyst, wages in the country must be tied to the level of worker productivity. The ideal option would be wage growth proportional to labor productivity. Otherwise, Russians will face “an acceleration of the inflationary spiral,” the expert concluded.
