Chihuahua— The National Union of Social Security Workers (SNTSS) called on its members to nominate family members to fill 1,541 newly opened positions for the new Regional General Hospital 2, which is about to begin operations in Juárez.
The new union leadership, headed by Jorge Herrera, recently elected as general secretary, is in charge of assigning these spaces, of which 1,194 correspond to employees specialized in hospitals and 347 to non-family doctors, that is, specialists in the various branches of medicine. The job pool was circulated through internal SNTSS channels and was directed to workers so that they could nominate family members, in order to have them work in the hospital that opened its first specialty clinics on August 12.
According to the current applicable statutes – the call states – permanent workers with more than 10 years of seniority can propose direct relatives in the job pool, in the different available categories.
The requirements to apply, in addition to 10 years of seniority, are to have a membership card with the SNTSS, have valid union rights, not have hired family members in the last decade, proof of payroll for the month of August and the document that proves the relationship with the person who is going to apply. According to the call, priority will be given to family members with the longest seniority and applicants who meet the requirements will be summoned according to the requested category and until the total number of available places in each one is exhausted. Registration is limited to Monday 26, Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 August and was announced to workers on the first of the days mentioned; the call states that the process is free and will be conducted by the Admission and Changes Secretariat of the National Executive Committee of the SNTSS. In the case of the 1,194 operational staff positions for the hospital, the largest number of vacancies are for cleaning assistants in medical and non-medical areas, totaling 391; in addition to 163 spaces for general nursing assistants and 120 positions for general clinical nursing. Other vacancies with a high number available are those of general nursing, with 90 positions; food handler, with 50; multi-purpose technician, with 40; social worker and office assistant, with 35 vacancies each. Other categories within the call for applications are those of biologist, autopsy assistant, librarian, maxillofacial surgeon, cytotechnologist, histotechnologist, laboratory assistant, occupational therapist, messenger, ambulance operator, stretcher-bearers and medical assistants, among others. Likewise, another 347 positions in the categories of non-family physicians correspond to anesthesiology, with 65 vacancies; emergency room, with 63 spaces and intensive care, with 43 vacancies. In addition to another 33 for pediatrics, 30 for radiodiagnosis, 21 for pediatrics for patients in critical condition and 16 for neonatology. Other specialties with fewer available places are pediatric cardiology, palliative medicine, rheumatology, urology, nephrology, pulmonology, pediatric oncology, ophthalmology, psychiatry and proctology, which have less than 10 spaces in demand. The new hospital was inspected by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, last Friday, August 9; it began to provide its first consultations the following Monday, without being in operation at full capacity. The new hires must be proposed by the SNTSS to the National Directorate of the IMSS, so that the new workers begin working as soon as possible.
