The Digital Foundry team analyzed the Metroid Prime 4 Beyond trailer and revealed, from what they could see, whether the game was actually running on Nintendo Switch 2.
June’s Nintendo Direct showcased a slew of games coming later this year, but also showed off the first trailer for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond – complete with gameplay – and confirmation that the game will arrive in 2025. The rumors also point the finger towards the fact that Nintendo’s next console will arrive in March 2025.
Not a few, therefore, immediately thought that maybe Metroid Prime 4 Beyond was running on the new console of the big N. Is it really like that?
Digital Foundry’s commentary on Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
IGN USA then asked colleagues to Digital Foundry (who deal with in-depth technical analyzes of video games) if perhaps the new video game was played on the new console, considering that the graphic quality at first glance didn’t seem bad at all. The response, however, was negative. The video we saw during the Nintendo Direct, according to the newspaper, was played on Nintendo Switch, for a series of obvious reasons
Richard Leadbettertechnology editor at Digital Foundry, said: “The graphics are great and there are a couple of nice effects that we looked at more closely, but ultimately all the evidence points to the game running on the original Switch. The internal rendering resolution It’s 900p, the same as Metroid Prime Remastered. As good as it is, there are some aliasing issues and even some very minor frame-rate drops. Everything about the visuals is consistent with a really well-made Switch game , where Retro has a great track record. I can imagine that the development studio is really happy that people think it’s a Switch 2 game.”
Speaking of 2025, but will it ultimately make sense to buy Nintendo Switch 2 at launch?
