A tribute to hope and nature
The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank’s award-winning $2 banknote, developed in collaboration with De La Rue, is a vibrant artwork that combines sports elements with environmental motifs.
On its obverse, the figure of the legendary Sir Issac Vivian Alexander “Viv” Richards, known as “The Master Blaster”, stands out, an emblematic figure of local cricket. Additionally, images of turtles and fish are included, along with the bank’s logo in honor of its 40th anniversary.
This design was specifically chosen to symbolize hope and inspiring greatness for the inhabitants of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union, as well as for young people and people around the world.
It is worth remembering that Mexico won this prestigious award twice: in 2020 with the 100 peso bill starring Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, and in 2021 with the 50 peso bill starring the axolotl; both from the G Family.
