“For us at Trenord, the break is a moment of recovery. Both the driver and the conductor must get off the train and go to the rest rooms scattered throughout Lombardy. This allows the train driver to also have a psychophysical recovery as regards walking”. Roberto Gornati, Trenord’s Prevention and Protection Service manager, said this during the panel ‘Safety and prevention in the world of transport’, at the ‘Prevention in travel’ event. #piùmovimentomenotrombosi’, organized today in Milan by the Lombardy Region in collaboration with the association ‘Vincere la thrombosi’.
“We have 439 trains in our assets, of which 209 are of the latest generation, purchased by the Lombardy Region through Ferrovie Nord and Fnm – adds Gornati – with ergonomics that allow drivers, train conductors and passengers to have a whole series of new modes both approach to driving and the use of the train system”.
Trenord’s corporate welfare also involves health prevention campaigns. “All workers who choose to join the preventive medicine program – specifies Gornati – can take advantage of a check-up useful for evaluating, in the following year, the impact of the advice that the doctors have given. In 2023 we had 4,300 visits. In addition to this – he continues – there is a targeted action, not only by competent doctors, but also by preventive medicine, in proposing a healthy lifestyle to all our colleagues: avoiding a sedentary lifestyle, alcohol consumption and paying particular attention to hypertension and diabetes”.
For Trenord it is essential to know the problems of workers. “We have developed – concludes Gornati – questionnaires aimed at the railway world, which have brought to light a series of problems” on which “we have studied targeted interventions, among these, awareness campaigns”.
