Total domination
Pole position, 67 points out of 67, races won alone complete with a final stubble/endo at the end of Race-2, a feat that will certainly remain in the imagination of the 35 thousand spectators present yesterday at Misano (76 thousand in total over the three days) and which the Commissioners didn’t like it. Toprak Razgatlioglu he dominated far and wide in Misano at Ducati’s home, achieving his first hat-trick since becoming a BMW rider.
That of Misano it was the fourth round of the season and the declaration of intent is clear: the Turk wants the world title, immediately, not in 2025. The kilos of ballast that Alvaro Bautista has to deal with make it difficult to find the ideal set-up for the Spaniard who on the Riviera he struggled more than expected and was also less competitive than his boxmate Nicolò Bulega who was unable to stop an overflowing Razgatlioglu.
The 2021 world champion with Yamaha showed up at Misano with the idea of dominating: “I’m really happy because when I came to Misano I had only one goal: three victories with BMW. I’ve done it – the words of Razgatlioglu – after Race-1 we changed something on the bike. I felt much better, especially regarding the grip of the front tyre, I could push more, I knew that after 5-8 laps the rivals would drop, while I could continue pushing”.
Kenan Sofuogliu’s pupil leaves Misano with a 21 point lead over Alvaro Bautista and in a month the Donington event is scheduled, a circuit on which Razgatlioglu has always excelled. Keeping a low profile after the Misano show is difficult, but the BMW driver knows that the championship is still long: “Everyone is starting to believe in me and BMW. This season we move forward step by step. Obviously I hope to end the season as World Champion, but there are still many races to go and it’s best not to let it get to your head“.
