NieR: Automata is returning with… a line of women’s shoes. Made by the Japanese brand MAYLA, the shoes were presented with a post on Twitter showing a photo of a first model against the background of a post-apocalyptic scenario.
The references to 2B’s design are evident as regards the color and finishes, which recall the dress and accessories of the very powerful and fascinating gynoid protagonist of NieR: Automata.
However, this collaboration does not represent an absolute debut for MAYLA, who has actually already proposed it different lines inspired by anime or video game charactersincluding the Neon Genesis Evangelion series or the Hatsune Miku series.
It has to mean something
With over 8 million copies sold, NieR: Automata undoubtedly stands as a great success for Square Enix, and it is therefore unusual that the publisher has not already reached an agreement with the visionary game director Yoko Taro for the creation of a new chapter of the series.
The very creation of a line of shoes produced by MAYLA indicates that the popularity of the franchise is still strongespecially in Japan, and therefore there are many fans, including female (or male, but with a predilection for high heels), who adore these characters and would like to see them return.
NieR: Automata was published way back in 2017 on PC and PS4, arriving the following year on Xbox One and finally, in 2022, also on Nintendo Switch.
