Three riders for one seat
Ducati will communicate the choice over ‘Pecco’s teammate Bagnaia close to the Mugello race next week (probably in the following days). It is no mystery that the shortlist of candidates has narrowed down between Jorge Martin, world championship leader, Marc Marquez, six-time MotoGP world champion, and Enea Bastianini, the current seat holder in the official team.
Claudio DomenicaliDucati CEO, explained to Sky: “I would say that various arguments have been made and it is not an easy choice at all. The three candidates are them. Enea finished the Warm Up first, in France he finished 2″ behind the winner despite the Long Lap Penalty. And what is considered already outside is doing well. Jorge is in the best moment of his career, while Marc is Marc. We’re trying to put all the little pieces together. In the past it was difficult to convince a strong rider to come to us, but we are confident we can find a good balance.”
Bagnaia’s crash in the Sprint
Domenicali did not shy away from commenting on the victory that was lost on the last lap in yesterday’s Sprint in Barcelona due to Bagnaia’s fall: “We are talking about an episode and it should be closed like this. Sport is also made up of these seemingly inexplicable things. Pecco has accustomed us to this. To extraordinary races like Jerez with the overtaking on the outside of Turn 6 and then to difficult moments like this.”
