Leclerc, master pole
Three clues must lead to a result. Charles Leclerc he desperately searches for it in his Monte-Carlo, where he got the third pole start of his career. Here, however, the owner of the house has never achieved noteworthy results, both due to bad luck and errors on his part and on the wall. Those mistakes that will absolutely be avoided tomorrow, and from which Ferrari team principal Frederic himself Vasseur warns, so that the disaster of 2022 is not repeated.
Vasseur’s words
“It was a good day, but already yesterday Charles was having a positive weekend. In Q1 there was a problem with that bag on the front wing, but he kept calm. He was at his limit because we lost 2-3 laps at that stage, but he did a great job throughout the session“, these are his words to Sky Sports F1. “Before qualifying we changed the engine for safety, but we don’t have any tension for tomorrow. I think we have the advantage of always having the same race preparation routine: we meet for strategy, set-up and so on. I honestly think the wait will be manageable“.
“Charles has been flying since the beginning of the weekend, he was very consistent with a very fast pace right from the start. It’s true that Q1 didn’t start well for us, we had to do an extra lap to remove the plastic bag. I was a little scared that he might be nervous, and that might affect him, but he kept calm and did great.“.
“Carlos too (Sainz, third on the grid, ed.) he was very good with a great lap at the end, and it’s nice to have both cars in front also from a strategy perspective and everything else. But we’ll see tomorrow, we know that it’s exceptionally important to get pole position in Monaco, though Winning is not a givenso we have to do everything properly“.
