Decisive yellow flag
A few moments after the checkered flag, the pole position of David Alonso, for the fourth consecutive time in front of everyone, seemed to be a foregone conclusion. Instead, the Colombian from CFMoto found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time during his fastest lap, which was canceled due to the yellow flags displayed due to Rossi’s fall. In this way, Ivan Ortolà, the same rider who had hindered him in the middle of the session and who for this reason could serve a penalty, became the one to conquer the first pole position of his career in Moto3.
Q1: one step away from the Italian trio
First qualifying session which ended positively for two Italian drivers, starting with Matteo Bertelle. The Paduan created the best time in 1:47.766followed by Muñoz and Lunettawho thus obtained the pass for Q2 together with Roulstone. Nothing to do for Farioli, however, among the top four in the standings until the decisive lap to advance to the next round but suffered a fall on the last attempt just as he was improving his sectors. A finish very similar to that of Odgen, who was also the victim of a fall at the best of times. Carraro also did poorly in 11th position, as well as the third to last on the starting grid.
Q2: mockery for Alonso and Veijer
The end of Q2 was sensational, even more so for the episode that occurred mid-session: during his fastest lap, Alonso was hindered by Ortola, who for this reason could also be penalized with a double long lap in view of tomorrow’s race. The Spaniard, however, finished in second position on the decisive lap for the pole, right behind the Colombian. However, due to the yellow flags exposed due to Riccardo Rossi’s fall, Alonso’s time was cancelled, with pole thus passing into the hands of Ortolà, who was also faster than Colin Veijer by only 19 thousandths. In this way, the CFMoto rider slips to sixth position, with Rueda completing the front row. The Italians are further behind, with Lunetta completing the top-10 just ahead of compatriots Nepa and Bertelle.
