A new survey by the Paraná Pesquisas institute shows that rejection of the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) remains greater than approval. According to the results of the study, 49.6% of those interviewed disapprove of the PT administration, while 46.2% approve. Another 4.2% did not know or did not respond.
The Paraná Pesquisas survey personally interviewed 2,020 voters in 160 cities between April 27th and May 1st. The margin of error is 2.2 percentage points and the reliability rate is 95%.
Compared to the previous survey carried out by the institute, in March, the president’s rejection fluctuated upwards by 0.8%. Approval, in turn, fell 0.4%, a percentage that is also within the margin of error.
For 31.9% of Brazilians, Lula’s management is excellent or good, one percentage point less than estimated in March. On the other hand, 41.1% consider the PT administration to be bad or very bad, an upward fluctuation of 0.6% compared to the previous survey. Another 26% think that the federal government does a regular job.
Paraná Pesquisas asked voters what the main mistakes that the Lula government has already committed or are currently committing. The most cited issues were tax increases (6.2%), lack of control over inflation (4.4%) and lack of fight against corruption (4.3%).
The positive measures most remembered by voters were the investment in income transfer programs to the neediest (7.9%), the funds allocated to improving public education (6.4%) and the promotion of Minha Casa, Minha Life (4.4%).
Lula is approved by women and residents of the Northeast and rejected by men and residents of the South
Lula’s popularity is greater among women, a group in which 52.3% approve of the PT administration and 42.7% disapprove. Among men, the scenario is the opposite: 57.3% negatively evaluate the government and 39.5% positively evaluate the Chief Executive’s management.
A traditional PT stronghold, the Northeast is the only region in the country where Lula’s approval is greater than his rejection. There, 56.9% approve of the president and 38.1% reject him.
The South region is where Lula has the highest negative evaluation, with 60.3%. Another 37.7% approve of the government. In the Southeast, the PT member is approved by 45.1% and rejected by 50.4%
In the North and Central-West, the president’s approval is 37.6% and rejection is 58.1%.
