Iranian General Staff: Raisi’s helicopter caught fire after colliding with a mountain
The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces announced the preliminary results of the investigation into the crash with the helicopter of the country’s President Ebrahim Raisi.
There were no traces of the impact of bullets or similar means on the body of the crashed helicopter.
According to the General Staff, despite the fact that the results of the investigation are preliminary, these data “can be stated with confidence.” It is noted that the crashed helicopter caught fire after colliding with a hill.
The General Staff also reported that the pilot of the crashed helicopter was in contact with the pilots of two other helicopters in the motorcade. The Iranian General Staff also concluded that the duty shift at the airfield air traffic control tower “did not reveal any suspicious aspects in a conversation with the helicopter crew,” writes TASS.
On May 20, it was reported that all passengers on Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter had died as a result of the crash. On board the aircraft, in addition to the Iranian leader, were the country’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the governor of the East Azerbaijan province Malek Rahmati and the Friday imam of the city of Tabriz Mohammad Ali Ale Hashem.
