Microsoft interested in buying Valve for $16 billion
Microsoft Corporation has prepared an offer to the owners of Valve to purchase the company. About it reports publication MSPoweruser with reference to insider xDiorCS.
xDiorCS statedthat the American IT giant is interested in buying Valve, which supports the world’s largest gaming service, Steam. According to a specialist, Microsoft is allegedly ready to offer Valve CEO Gabe Newell $16 billion.
The author called the indicated amount tempting, since, according to his data, Valve is valued at six to eight billion dollars. At the same time, the company has significant annual income, so it is difficult to calculate the fair value of the company.
The material states that with the help of Steam, Microsoft will expand its influence on the PC gaming market. According to media journalists, Valve founder Gabe Newell is a billionaire, so it will be difficult to interest him just with a lot of money. Steam also dominates the video game market, so potential purchases could be thwarted by regulators. For the first time, rumors that Microsoft could acquire Valve and Steam appeared in September 2023.
In mid-October, Microsoft closed a deal to acquire the studio behind best-selling games Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, Activision Blizzard, for $69 billion. This was preceded by regulatory review of the transaction.
