The presentation of the new SUV Coupé is just a few weeks away Aiways U6. The new vehicle suitable for a dynamic lifestyle, born on the basis of the previous Aiways U5 model, already successfully launched in Europe, sees its most distinctive aspects in the shape of the bodywork and power. For the first time, an in-house developed electric motor is used, based on the MAS (More Adaptable Structure) platform. Efficiency is the key to success. Being able to make the most of energy is therefore the primary objective of Aiways’ research and development team in Jiading (Shanghai district). With the electric motor of the U5 SUV, Aiways stood out for extraordinary performance.
The new unit, particularly powerful – 16,000 rpm, more than about 25% compared to similar cars – is even more compact and lighter thanks to the wide range of usable speeds, because it uses less magnetically active material. For its optimized bipolar permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, Aiways saved 15% of weight, most of which due to the use of rare earth minerals. Based on the experience gained with U5, Aiways has come up with the new AI-PT (Aiways Powertrain) of the upcoming U6 SUV-Coupé. The modern engine, which Aiways has not only developed but also produced, has been optimized in many respects. “The AI-PT is something very special. It makes us one of the very few car manufacturers that designs and builds the powertrain. In this way, we not only achieve the best possible integration into the vehicle, but we ensure a real advantage over the competition thanks to our innovative strength. You won’t find our engine in other vehicles, ”said Alexander Klose, Executive Vice President Overseas Operations at Aiways, explaining the benefits of in-house development.
In the SUV-Coupé Aiways U6, the increase in performance and the improvement in maximum torque are immediately noticeable: it takes only 6.9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km / h. Another fundamental element to guarantee greater efficiency is the new package of interventions for optimal temperature management. For the AI-PT, this is handled by a new heat exchanger that not only cools the engine, but makes optimum use of its residual heat. The thermal energy released by the engine does not remain unused and is not dispersed into the environment, but is used to heat the passenger compartment or cool the battery pack. This solution increases the battery life and makes it less constrained to the outside temperature. The MAS intelligent platform which characterizes the Aiways models, it can be used as a base not only for any type of bodywork but also in configurations that require a different arrangement of the engine and a different number of axles. The new Aiways U6 SUV Coupé, which will soon debut in Europe, will have a 63 kWh battery, like the current Aiways U5 SUV, with a pack of 24 modules supplied by CATL and can be recharged up to 90 kW at a fast charging station. direct current (DC) or up to 11 kW via three-phase AC wallbox.
