The Scouting program of the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) is in full swing: in fact, two selection events are about to start that will define some of the participants in the FDA Scouting World Finals which will take place in Maranello in October and will see the most promising young people compete against each other. on the track and in a series of off-track activities with the aim of securing a place in the Ferrari program reserved for them.
Since 2020, the FDA has strengthened its worldwide research and selection network: the Academy of Maranello has in fact decided – unique in the motorsport panorama – to make use of the contribution of local scouting partners to be sure of always being able to count on the best young people. wherever they are in the world.
From Italy to Malaysia. Last Thursday the second seasonal Scouting Camp organized in collaboration with ACI Sport came to an end in Fiorano. In this event – as well as in the one staged last July – four young people tested themselves behind the wheel of a Formula 4 single-seater equipped with Pirelli tires on the historic track owned by Ferrari.
During the two camps, therefore, four Italians suggested by ACI Sport and as many talents chosen by the FDA in collaboration with the scouting partner in the field of karting, the historic Tony Kart, were evaluated.
The boys’ performance assessments are ongoing and some of them may be selected for the Scouting World Finals. Over the weekend it will be the moment of the selection event organized by Motorsport Australia – FDA scouting partner for the Asia-Pacific area – which will bring to the Sepang track, theater for 19 times of the Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix, 24 young people of seven different nationalities.
The weekend is organized in two phases: the first will see all the boys involved, while the second will be reserved only for the six best and will lead to the choice of candidates for the FDA Scouting World Finals.
Up to Mexico
The other selection event in view of the final act of the Ferrari scouting program will be staged in Mexico, at the Puebla racetrack, and is organized in collaboration with Escuderia Telmex, scouting partner for Latin America and Mexico.
Also in this case a group of promising drivers will compete on the track at the wheel of a Formula 4 car on 27 September. The two most promising will be hosted in Maranello in less than a month to try and secure a place in the Academy. May the best then win!
