Pumping gas through the Nord Stream pipeline may resume from 03:00 Moscow time on September 3. This forecast was shared by the operator of the German gas pipeline Nel.
According to the operator, nominations for gas supplies will rise to the level of 1,933,899 kilowatt-hours starting from 03:00 Moscow time on Saturday. By this time, the repair of the only remaining gas compressor unit at the Portovaya compressor station will be completed.
Prior to this, it was expected that the pumping of gas through the Nord Stream would be stopped until 04:00 Moscow time on September 3.
Earlier, on August 31, it became known that Gazprom completely stopped deliveries via Nord Stream due to scheduled work on the only operating gas compressor unit. The company clarified that upon completion of maintenance and in the absence of technical malfunctions of the unit, gas transportation will be restored to the level of 33 million cubic meters. m per day.
On August 17, Bloomberg reported that if gas supplies from the Russian Federation to Germany are cut off, the country will have to face a serious shortage of energy resources for the coming winter. Agency employees after analyzing the data came to the conclusion that with this outcome, the stocks would only last for three months.
Gas supplies to Germany fell due to problems with the return of the turbine for the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which arose as a result of anti-Russian sanctions.
After negotiations between Berlin and Ottawa, the Canadian side returned the turbine to the German side, but so far the equipment has not been delivered to Russia. Gazprom has repeatedly noted that anti-Russian sanctions hinder the solution of the situation with the transportation of the Siemens turbine for Nord Stream.
Western countries have imposed several packages of sanctions against the backdrop of a special operation by the Russian Federation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. However, all this has already turned into economic problems in Europe, causing a sharp rise in fuel and food prices. The sanctions also led to record inflation in the EU countries.
