The Trento prosecutor’s office has granted clearance for the 11 victims of the Marmolada collapse thus allowing the families to proceed with the funeral. Funeral that will take place, in no particular order, this week. The six victims identified immediately – three Venetians (Filippo Bari, Paolo Dani and Tommaso Carollo), a woman from Trentino (Liliana Bertoldi) and two tourists from the Czech Republic (Pavel Dana and Martin Ouda) – were then added the names of the people claimed. : the spouses Davide Miotti and Erica Campagnaro, the engaged Manuela Piran and Gianmarco Gallina, and the 22-year-old Nicolò Zavatta, the youngest of the victims and among those recognized through DNA. The final toll of the avalanche on Sunday 3 July is therefore eight men and three women dead. Eight Venetian victims of which seven resident in the province of Vicenza.
Meanwhile, the opening of the crevasse on the glacier which occurred yesterday stopped the search for the remains. The Alpine Rescue drones are also at a standstill, essential in finding human remains and technical equipment in the ice and rock flow. “Operations will resume when conditions allow to work safely” experts say. The detection instruments, installed after the avalanche, recorded small collapses in the area near the ice cap, with the falling of ice blocks probably due to the particularly high temperatures recorded in recent days.
