The Norwegian won in 4 sets against the Pole and for the first time comes so far in the Grand Slam tournament. The Greek is on the pitch with the Danish Next Gen
The first to qualify in the lower part for the quarter-finals of Roland Garros is the Norwegian Casper Ruud, seeded number 8, who beat the Polish Hubert Hurkacz 6-2 6-3 3-6 6-3. Ruud benefited from his better attitude to play on clay than the Pole who prefers fast courts.
Almost half of the points decided by no more than four rallies went to Hurkacz, while Ruud dominated the medium-long rallies. What made the difference was also the bad mood of the Pole at bat: Hurkacz served on average only 53% of primes with which he only made 8 aces and conceded an avalanche of break points: 10 of which only 4 saved. Ruud made 3 breaks in the first set, one in the second and two in the fourth. Now in the quarterfinals – his first Grand Slam quarter-finals – the winner of the ongoing challenge between Holger Rune and Stefanos Tsitsipas awaits.
