Russia, which has been blocking agricultural exports from Ukrainian ports for several weeks, began importing grain from the occupied Kherson region bordering the Black Sea.
“The export of last year’s crop to Russia has begun,” the deputy head of the pro-Russian military administration in Kherson, Kirill Strimosov, told the official Russian news agency “TASS”, on Monday.
Strimosov explains that the aim is to make space for the new crop in the stores, and added that for this reason part of the grain stocks were sold to Russia, without giving any details about the conditions under which the farmers gave their crop to the occupiers.
