With the aim of helping to reconcile work life with family life, as well as to help with an economic income that allows your family to get ahead, the Government of Spain, through SEPE and Social Security, has a series of help for single mothers.
An economic support through which the State makes help available that allows women to support their families. In addition, it can also be requested from the social services of each autonomous community. some help the amount of which may vary depending on a series of criteriasuch as income or family situation, in the event that an application is made by a large family.
The first articulated aid is none other than the Minimum Vital Income (IM V), owned by Social Security. Your request can be made at the Social Security Electronic Headquarters. Destined for people and cohabitation units in a situation of risk of poverty and social exclusionso is cohabitation units that include minors, and that meet all the necessary requirements for granting the benefit.
Regarding the IMV, the amount is €469.93 for a single person and a maximum of €1,033 for a living unit. For this one 2022, there will be a variable aid for each dependent child in a coexistence unit of between 50 and 100 euros per month. Another novelty is the increase in the amount of 22% for families with a member with a severe disability.
Benefit for birth and care of the child
Two other benefits single mothers receive are linked to maternity. The first of them, the childbirth and care allowance, whose amount will be the equivalent of 100% of a regulatory base that is equivalent to that of temporary disability, derived from common contingencies. Sick leave lasts 16 weeks, and in this benefit Social Security is responsible for paying the corresponding amount.
For large families and also for mothers who suffer from a disability of the 65%, there is one financial benefit for birth which reaches one thousand euros per month. Single-parent families, for example, have discounts 45% in the fees for hiring a caregiver, as long as the contractor works outside the home.
SEPE has five grants
For its part, the SEPE has five economic aids for single mothers, who must be registered as jobseekers. These are the subsidy for insufficient contributionwhose amount amounts to 451.92 euros per month, must have contributed to Social Security for less than a year.
On the other hand, others stand out, such as the contributory unemployment benefitwithout a fixed amount and based on what you have contributed for six months, the Active Insertion Incomewhose amount is 430 euros per month, for 11 months and that can be charged for a maximum of 33 months. The RAI is intended for women aged 45 or over, victims of gender-based violence and women with a disability of 33% or more.
The Extraordinary Subsidy for Unemployment, the last measure that is requested as long as other benefits cannot be accessed. There is also a subsidy for people over 52 years of age.
