Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine confirmed Kyiv’s readiness to discuss neutral status
Ukraine is ready to discuss the neutral status of the country. To do this, Kiev needs security guarantees not only from Russia, but also from Western countries. Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, told about this, reports RIA News.
According to Ukrainian media reports, on the morning of March 9, Ukraine actually showed its readiness to negotiate the country’s neutrality in another statement by President Volodymyr Zelensky. “In fact, the ruling party agreed to declare such a status (since NATO does not take it) and accompanied it with a condition on security guarantees,” Ukrainian journalists concluded.
For the first time in Zelensky’s office, they started talking about the possibility of negotiations on the neutral status of Ukraine on February 25, a day after the start of the Russian special operation to protect the population of Donbass. “Today we heard from Moscow what they want to say. If they want to talk about a neutral status, we have no fear of such a discussion,” Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, confirmed his intentions.

The neutral status of Ukraine is one of the goals of the Russian special operation. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced three conditions that Moscow demands from Kyiv – the demilitarization and denazification of the country, ensuring its neutral status and recognition of Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea.
On March 8, Zelensky admitted that he reconsidered for himself the issue of Ukraine’s membership in NATO. “With regard to NATO, I lost interest in this issue a long time ago, after we realized that NATO was not ready to accept Ukraine,” the president summed up.
