The women’s team Bacatá of the city of Bogotá moved to Sweden on July 14 to compete in the tournament GOTHIACUP, named as one of the largest youth soccer tournaments in the world. In this tournament, sponsored mainly by SKF, around 1700 teams from 80 nations participate and play 4500 matches in 110 fields, this year the Colombian women’s team played an important role.
The tournament was held at the Gothenburg-Sweden headquarters and began with a parade of all the participating countries, there we could see the Colombian team parading with the typical costume of Colombia. The Gothia Cup classifies its players by category, gender and groups, the Bacatá team was in the Girls 17 – Group 5 category where teams from Germany, the United States and Sweden could also be found.
“The tournament starts with a group round. Teams are divided into groups of four or five, where all teams play each other once. The first and second teams in the group qualify for play-off A, the other teams in the group qualify for play-off B. The tournament is played under all applicable FIFA rules” states the official Gothia Cup website.
The Bacatá team started its first confrontation on July 18 with the ATS Buntentor team from GermanyE, obtaining as a result a 4-0 being the winners, their second confrontation occurs the next day with the team St. Paul Blackhswks 2 of the United States where they were the winners with a score of 6-0, their third confrontation was against the Habo IF team from Sweden where they continued to lead group 5 of the GOTHIA CUP until their last match against Vasteras BK30 from Sweden, where unfortunately they were tied for second place in their category. The first place in the group went to the Vasteras BK30 team.

Through the Meet the world 2022 U-17 soccer tournament, SKF, a Swedish multinational world leader in engineering products, services and solutions, was the main sponsor of the winning team Bacatá from Colombia, granting them the opportunity to participate in the Gothia Cup world tournament with all expenses paid.
According to Catalina Castañeda, a player for the Bacatá team in Colombia, having played with international teams and reaching second place in her category made her understand that Colombian soccer has great levels of playadds that this opportunity made him see the possibilities that sport gives people to get to know different countries, cultures and share Colombian customs.
