Windows 8.1 is certainly a hotly debated operating system among product lovers Microsoft. This is the evolution (or for some involution) of Windows 7 as well as Microsoft’s timid attempt to fix all the problems of its Windows 8.
Either way, today we are here to tell you how very soon the operating system will retire and consequently you should start preparing to abandon it! If you are curious, stay with us and you will certainly not be disappointed.
Windows 8.1, there is little time for retirement
Windows 8.1 is an operating system dated 2013 that should have improved the much-criticized Windows 8. Unfortunately, the design conceived by Windows did not conquer users even a littlemaking the operating system hated to say the least by some fringes of the community.
In reality, the termination of support for Windows 8.1 has already begun in 2018, but as you well know Microsoft is proceeding step by step and only from 10 January 2023 will we enter the famous EOL (end of life) phase where having this operating system will mean being exposed to not indifferent and fearful vulnerabilities!
Then, you may see a notification pop up that will warn you of what you will encounter if you decide to use the operating system in question again next year. But what are your options at this point:
Microsoft has been disabling the free upgrade to Windows 10 for years now, so if your machine meets the minimum requirements, the only way you’ll have to upgrade to Windows 10 or Windows 11 is to purchase a fresh license.
The choice is yours alone, but bear in mind that if you use a PC with an unsupported operating system and connect it to the internet, you will be easily vulnerable to of criminals intent on exploiting exploits and security holes.
