Vox has given instructions to its public officials to boycott institutional events on March 8. The leadership of the ultra party has sent its local representatives an internal circular in which it warns them that they should not attend under any circumstances the events called by the administrations of which they are part and, in the event that a declaration is made institutional or a motion on the occasion of International Women's Day, have to propose an alternative text.
In that manifesto, which is attached to the circular, the demand before 8M is “the elimination of the Ministry of Equality and all entities, organizations, observatories and subsidy programs for radical associations,” in his words. The document of the ultra party tries to associate irregular immigration with crime, especially that of a sexual nature, ensuring that the Government's policies “have affected the tranquility and security of women” and that “the effect calls for illegal immigration […] has caused the brutal increase in sexual crimes that were barely known in Spain until a few years ago,” in reference to group rapes.
Vox tries to delve into the division of the feminist movement, attacking “artificial groups”, among which it includes transsexual people. The training ensures that trans policies “blur the identity of women” and that the left “has abandoned and even singled out those women and men who did not agree with radical feminist precepts and new quer theories.” Without naming names, she assures that “relevant women who have freely shown a critical vision” towards the principle of gender self-determination “have been silenced, separated or attacked.”
Vox is present in five regional governments, 16 regional parliaments, dozens of councils and councils and hundreds of city councils. However, it is very unlikely that its manifesto will be approved, since the order of the national leadership of the ultra party is to propose it only as an alternative to a text from the other formations, never as its own initiative. In any case, their refusal to support the institutional declarations of 8M will mean that they cannot prosper due to lack of unanimity.
This situation already occurred last year, but its presence in local and territorial entities is much broader after the elections of May 28, 2023. In addition, the presentation by Vox of an alternative text to the motions traditionally agreed upon by all parties will force the PP to opt, especially in the 140 municipalities that it governs in coalition with the ultras. Whatever the result, Vox public officials will be absent from the institutional events of 8M, as they already distance themselves from the minutes of silence every time a woman is a victim of sexist violence.
