Twenty-two cases of monkeypox were detected in 11 US states; numbers must increase
The US government has shipped smallpox drugs and vaccines to 8 states, according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). The strategy is to try to prevent monkeypox with the immunizer.
At least 22 cases of monkeypox have been detected in the United States in 11 locations: California (5), Colorado (2), Georgia (1), Hawaii (1), Illinois (2), Massachusetts (1), New York ( 5), Pennsylvania (1), Utah (2), Virginia (1) and Washington (1). The CDC predicts an increase in these numbers.
States received the immunizing agent Jyneosadministered to prevent smallpox.
“We want to offer vaccines to people who have had high-risk contact with infected individuals to help prevent transmission of the virus.,” Raj Panjabi, senior director of global health security and biodefense at the White House, said during a conversation with reporters.
The government delivered 1,200 doses of the vaccine and offered 100 courses of treatment for the monkeypox virus, Panjabi said.
