License was obtained after the government of Nicolás Maduro and the opposition resumed the humanitarian agreement
The United States issued an authorization this Saturday (26.Nov.2022) to allow the Chevron Corporation to resume limited oil extraction operations in Venezuela. The US government said the action “provides relief from sanctions” imposed on the country.
The decision was taken after the government of Nicolás Maduro and the United Platform, which opposes the current administration, announced a humanitarian agreement to benefit the Venezuelan population and the continuation of negotiations for the 2024 election.
“The GL 41 [Licença Geral da Venezuela] authorizes activities related to Chevron joint ventures only in Venezuela and does not authorize other activities with PdVSA [Petróleos de Venezuela – empresa estatal venezuelana]🇧🇷 Other Venezuela-related sanctions and restrictions imposed by the United States remain in effect.r,” says the US Treasury Department statement🇧🇷
