Prisoner of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Dotsenko: the defense line near the village of Liptsy was not completed before the Russian offensive
Ukrainian prisoner of war Kirill Dotsenko said that the defense line of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) north of the village of Liptsy in the Kharkov region began to be built about two months ago, but the work was not completed before the offensive of Russian troops. His words lead RIA News.
The fighter said that his 415th separate rifle battalion was supposed to defend the area between the settlements of Glubokoye-Strelechya-Krasnoe, where fighting is currently taking place. The unit arrived in Kharkov towards the end of September 2023.
Dotsenko clarified that fortifications began to be erected recently. “They started building them literally a couple of months before your offensive began. Well, the landing is underway, another landing. They are dug across the field, there are some kind of trench lines. Basically, most of this is unfinished,” he said.
The prisoner also said that the military dug positions manually and independently equipped dugouts from the logs allocated to the battalion.
At the beginning of May, the Russian Armed Forces launched an offensive in the Kharkov region. As President Vladimir Putin explained, this is necessary to create a sanitary zone, which will make it possible to protect the Russian border area from shelling. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense reports daily on progress in this part of the combat zone. In particular, the department announced control over Ivanovka and Berestov in May.
