Donald Trump’s supporters have come to his rescue. The former president is experiencing low hours after the jury in New York found him guilty on 34 charges for trying to hide payments to silence a porn actress. The Republican candidate becomes the first in history to be convicted in a criminal trial. The followers of the Republican candidate are looking for the controversial former president to return to the White House with the elections on November 5. The president’s massive support after the verdict was announced caused the WinRed page, the conservatives’ digital fundraising platform founded in 2019, to collapse for a few minutes.
“My civil rights have been completely violated with this highly political, unconstitutional, election-interfering witch hunt. “Everyone is laughing at our nation’s failure,” Trump wrote in Truth Social after the jury members’ decision was announced.
Dan Scavino, one of Trump’s advisers during his presidency, reported that WinRed was having problems an hour after the verdict was announced. “The page is down due to the overwhelming support that comes from all over the country,” said Scavino, who was one of the deputy directors of the Cabinet between 2017 and 2021 and is one of the members of the former president’s close circle. The fall affected the platform for only 15 minutes and its service was restored.
The page does not mince words about Trump’s need to raise money. This shows the portrait that Georgia authorities took of the former president in August 2023. The photograph, in which Trump appears with a defiant face, has been used by the campaign as a symbol of the fight against a corrupt system in all its troubles. judicial proceedings that the politician has open. “Never surrender” (never give up), it reads below the image even though it was taken after the Republican turned himself in at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
Trump considers himself a political prisoner who has been convicted in a witch hunt, “I have done nothing wrong!” reads in large red letters. A little further down there are several options to donate to the campaign. “Before the day ends, I call on all ten million patriots to contribute.” Donations range from $20.24; 47 dollars and so the figure rises until it reaches 3,300 dollars. There are also buttons that allow you to make recurring donations. Statistics show that the vast majority of supports are $200 or less.

The platform has helped raise at least four million dollars in this way in the current electoral cycle, according to Open Secrets, an organization that tracks the money that reaches politicians’ bank accounts. The company, based in the State of Virginia, sends the resources to Trump Save America, the political action committee at the service of the re-election of the former president. In the last two years, it has received 194 million dollars in donations, according to the same source. The money, however, goes out as quickly as it comes in. Of that amount, 184 million has been spent to date, leaving about 10 million in the hands of the Republican candidate.
In the 2020 campaign, a third of the donations received by Trump had been given by retirees. WinRed has been sued at least six times because many of the people who gave money later had to suffer a ordeal to get the company to stop debiting their accounts. The company had been taken to court for its somewhat aggressive, yet effective, collection tactics. In that electoral cycle, the then president raised 255 million dollars. Between now and November, his campaign will have the chance to continue fattening the piggy bank heading into the autumn battle.
