The water has been flooding the road for several days.
On Vihdintie ie on the regional road 120 In Vantaa, both lanes will be closed due to the flood between Tiilipojanlenkki – Askistontie.
Flood waters also rose on the road in Kirkkonummi on Jorvaksentie. There was water especially on the section between the Kirkkonummi junction and Båtvikintie.
Flood water has risen on the road. The exact flood site is 1.5 kilometers from the intersection of Askistontie in the direction of Varisto on Vihdintie.
Fintraffic Road transport operator Outi Seppälä said on Friday morning that the contractor will close the road section.
Seppälä according to the point there has been water on the road for several days. On Friday, the situation led to vehicles being moved away from the flood site.
When the lanes are closed, you can use, for example, Askistontie or Juvanmalmintie as a detour.
“Traffic can be congested,” said Seppälä.
Seppälä also suspected that the water would not leave the flood spot in an instant.
Maintenance Manager Tuomas Vasama The Uusimaa Center for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment says that the area has a relatively large catchment area. Now, among other things, the ditches below do not pull, so the water rises on the road.
Flooding on that section of road is not a new phenomenon.
“Almost every year the water goes by the side of the road,” says Vasama.
According to Vasama, the adjacent footpaths and cycle paths sometimes come under the control of the water, and in some years another lane will have to be closed.
“This year’s rainfall has been exceptionally such that the road had to be cut off from two lanes.”
According to Vasama, the flood problem of the road section cannot be solved without massive construction.
“The road is soft and cannot be raised without reinforcement, which is a heavy and expensive operation,” says Vasama.
