FSB: three people were convicted in Transbaikalia for transferring money to terrorists from Syria
The Second Eastern District Military Court in Transbaikalia sentenced three Russians to eight years in prison for financing Syrian terrorists. This is reported by RIA News with reference to the Russian Federal Security Service for the region.
The convicts were found guilty under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 (“Promotion of Terrorist Activities”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. They will serve their sentences in a maximum security colony.
According to the department, the men shared the ideology of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. (international terrorist organization banned in Russia). They regularly transferred money to them to buy weapons, vehicles, ammunition and to promote terrorist activities. Searches were carried out in the houses of convicts in Transbaikalia, Dagestan and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Security forces seized communications equipment, payment instruments and other materials necessary for the investigation.
Earlier it became known that the FSB detained a resident of Kamchatka on suspicion of financing terrorist organizations in Syria.
