You only need a fork and a peeler
Onion is one of the most used foods in the kitchen. It is usually used in all kinds of recipes, such as stews, scrambled eggs, salads or the controversial potato omelette. It is capable of providing added flavor to any dish, but using it can have some drawbacks. On the one hand, it is a vegetable that makes the cook cry due to the gases it gives off, although there are some tricks to avoid it. It also has an odor that can permeate your hands and is difficult to remove.
To facilitate the task, there is a very simple and quick technique with which you can cut the onion without actually touching it with your hands. It is also the perfect way to make the cut as fine as possible, avoiding large pieces that are sometimes difficult to cook. To carry out this technique you will only need a fork and a peeler, which will fulfill the function of the knife but without the risk of cutting yourself.
Once you have the peeled onion, all you have to do is prick it in the center with a fork and place it on a surface. To immobilize it, press the handle of the fork on the table, preventing it from slipping. The next step is simply to use the peeler to cut it in quick movements and in an outward direction, so that the cut pieces fall on the table. When the peeler is getting too close to the pricked fork, you can flip the onion over and continue cutting down the other side until you reach the center.
The technique has been shared on Twitter by the user @davidpareja and seems to have delighted Internet users. The publication has more than 60,000 ‘likes’ and endless comments, in which the work of the peeler is praised, as it has many uses like this trick. There are also those who claim to prefer the traditional method, with which you can perform more types of cuts, and even those who add their own tricks, such as using a grater.
