The reservoirs store 50 hm3 less than on the same date in 2021 and are at 33.9% of their total capacity
The swamps of the Segura basin have reserves of 386 cubic hectometres, seven fewer than last week, according to data from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. The reservoirs have 50 cubic hectometres less than on the same date the previous year, and 41 less than the average they usually store at this time of year (427 cubic hectometres).
Thus, the reservoirs of the Segura basin are at 33.9% of their total capacity, 1.3% more than on September 13. In the country as a whole, the water reserve is at 32.5% of its total capacity this week, in which the reservoirs lost a total of 540 cubic hectometres, which represents 1%. At this moment there are 18,270 cubic hectometers of stored water.
National data
According to the historical data provided by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition to Europa Press and which accumulates data since 1990, this is the lowest figure in week 39 in 27 years, since it would have to go back to the same week of 1995 , when the reservoirs were at 26.38%.
However, this week the rainfall was abundant on the Mediterranean slope and considerably affected the Atlantic slope. Specifically, the maximum rainfall was collected in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where 124.3 liters per square meter were recorded. This week the reservoirs are 35.26% below the average of the last ten years and 18.93% less than on the same dates in 2021.
By areas, the Eastern Cantabrian reservoirs are at 67.1%; Western Cantabrian Sea, 56.2%; Galicia coast, 53.1%; the internal basins of the Basque Country, 71.4%; Tinto, Odiel and Piedras are at 65.5% and Júcar, at 52.5%.
The rest are below half their full capacity. This is the case of the Miño-Sil reservoirs, which are at 45.1%; Douro, at 30%; Tagus, 35.9%; Guadiana, 23.7%; Guadalete-Barbate, 23.3%; Guadalquivir, 20.3%; the Andalusian Mediterranean basin, 39%; Safe, at 33.9%; Ebro, to 37.2% and the internal basins of Catalonia to 36.9%.
