The activities of the “Abu Dhabi Racquet Club Festival, to discover talents for badminton,” which was organized by the club in partnership with the General Sports Authority, within the transformational “Mawaheb” project, and in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, were successfully concluded. The festival witnessed wide participation from 223 male and female players, including 133 girls. And 90 boys for the age groups under 10 years. The festival was held over two days, during which it witnessed strong competitions that resulted in many promising talents in badminton.
The sports festival was attended by Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Sports Authority, Talal Al Hashimi, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector, Abdullah Al Wahaibi, Director of the Club and Talent Development Department, representatives of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Noura Al Jasmi, President of the Badminton Federation. Dr. Hamad Al Mehyas, President of the Abu Dhabi Tennis Club, Abdullah Al Hashimi and Mahmoud Al Balushi, members of the club’s Board of Directors, along with Mubarak Al Hammadi, representative of the Emirates School Education Foundation.
Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum praised the efforts made by the officials of the Abu Dhabi Tennis Club, headed by Dr. Hamad Al Mehyas, in order to provide all the ingredients for the success of the Badminton Talent Discovery Festival, which provided the opportunity for many sons and daughters of the Emirates to showcase their skills in this game. He said, “It provides Sports events and sports festivals within the transformational “Mawaheb” project will discover a greater number of talented people with high technical abilities and skills to achieve national sports ambitions, and pave the way for them to represent the Emirates in various international sports forums, thus contributing to achieving the goals of the National Sports Strategy 2031.”
For his part, Dr. Hamad Al Mehyas, President of the Abu Dhabi Tennis Club, thanked and appreciated His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Talal Al Hashimi, and Noura Al Jasmi, for their keenness to attend and sponsor the sports festival, appreciating the pivotal role played by the General Sports Authority and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, And the Badminton Federation, in order to develop racket sports, especially badminton. He said: “We are happy with the success of the Badminton Talent Discovery Festival, and we are devoting our efforts, during the coming period, to discovering and nurturing talents, in line with the ambitious visions and directions adopted by the General Sports Authority through the “Talents” project. “Transformational, in the interest of developing Emirati sports and its leadership globally.”
Noura Al Jasmi, President of the Badminton Federation, praised the professional organization of the sports festival by the Abu Dhabi Racquet Sports Club, appreciating the efforts of the General Sports Authority within the framework of the transformative “Mawaheb” project, which includes more than one upcoming event to discover talent in badminton. She said: “The Federation is keen on constant coordination.” With the Abu Dhabi Racquet Sports Club, with the aim of spreading the sport of badminton in society, and discovering talent in the game at an early age,” and she expressed her happiness with the large numbers that participated in the event, who are considered the future of badminton.
